Brochure – 173. [Circa 1920s+ 16-Page booklet with maps and superb photos.] “Rocky Mountain National Park published by the Rocky Mountain Motor Company (Roe Emery, President). The Motor Company operated The Rocky Mountain Parks Transportation Company, Denver, Colorado. Roe Emery was President. Stapled binding. Approx. Size is 8 x 9 inches. Booklet is folded vertically down its center similar to a vintage transportation time table. Numerous black and white photographs. One 8 x 8 inch Circle Tour topographical map with red pictorials and route delineation. Four smaller side trip maps border the large map. One page with Passenger Fares and various Railway time Tables.
Over 25 great photographs show: Open-air tour cars (Jitneys) and vintage Tour buses; Mountain roads and Scenery; Estes Park Rental Chalets; Big Thompson Canyon and the Bridge; Daily caravans of jitneys and tour buses as seen in Big Thompson Canyon; Bus driver and open window tour bus; Guide leading vacationers on horseback; Panorama of huge crowd of tourists standing atop Berthoud Pass; Tour cars passing by the June Snowbanks on the famous Fall River Road; Fall River Pass with Mummy Range in distance; bird’s-eye view of a Fleet of Transportation Company buses going up Lookout Mountain over Lariat Trail; etc.

Lereaux William (Roe) Emery (October 31, 1874 – February 4, 1953) was an American businessman who owned many transportation companies and lodges, and expanded tourism into the National Parks. He was known as the “Father of Colorado Tourism” and he was President of the National Western Stock Show. His son Walt Emery was co-founder of the Denver Broncos NFL Football team. His Grandson Mark Udall was a US Senator from Colorado.
CONDITION: Minor wear, no writing or marks. Very Good to Fine condition. Nice brochure.
