Rare and original, ca1925 Amarillo, Texas Tri-State Fair & Texas Panhandle Old Settlers Association, four part Ribbon Badge.
This early 20th century, Texas Fair and Settlers Association Badge measures approx. 3 3/4" long overall and 1 3/4" across at the shaped bar pin. It is made of three, heavy, white metal elements and a red, white and blue silk ribbon. There is a shaped Bar Pin at the top that features a silver tone surface and text that reads “Amarillo Tr-State Exposition. Suspended from the Bar Pin by two links is a die cut number “25” featuring the same, silver tone surface. Also affixed to the bar pin is the silk ribbon. Hanging from the ribbon is a heavy “medal” die cut in the shape of the state of Texas with a silver tone surface and with the panhandle area highlighted with red enameling. There is an image of a horse farm at the center of the state and text above and below this image reads “Panhandle Old Settlers Association”.
The Badge carries the mark of the manufacturer – the Green Duck Co. of Chicago.
Some cursory research discovered that the Panhandle Old Settlers Association was instrumental in the organization and planning of the first Amarillo Tr-State Exposition in 1923. We believe that this Badge was produced for members of the Association at the time of the 1925 Fair.
This rare and intriguing, ca1925 Texas Fair and Settlers Association Badge is in very good condition – sound, complete and attractive. The metal elements display a rich and warm surface patina. There is no physical damage to any of the elements however there is some bleeding to the color on the silk ribbon.
