    Description

This is a used sample of antique barbed wire fencing. This sample features a Harold A. Abbott patent, dated January 19, 1943. This wire is called "Abbott's Double Loop WWII Military Wire with Flat Ended Barbs" by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 1-E VARIATION)(Hagemeier shows the barbs as being all round stock). This wire features a single round line wire. Wire has two off-setting kinks at barbing locations. Barbs are four pointed made from two barbing wires. Barbing wires are round stock with end portions flat on two sides. Each barb is placed in a kink, barbs are looped and cross over each other, end flat part of ends wrapped in a coil around each side of the barb. This wire was developed in Australia as a military wire for WWII. It was later continued in a commercial modificatoin with lighter weight lines and more widely spaced barbs. This sample is 18" in length and has six barbs,. Barbs are well spaced, and cut is well centered. Wire shows age wear, with light pitting. There are no bent, broken or repaired barbs. Wire is in very good used condition. There are no off odors. I have listed other wires, both as auction and fixed price listings. We will gladly combine multiple purchases for shipping, when paid on the same invoice ... using the buy it now option. First wire ships for .50; additional wires are fifty cents each extra. Twelve or more wire ship for free.
