ALICE TV CAST - PHOTOGRAPH SIGNED CO-SIGNED BY: LINDA LAVIN, VIC TAYBACK - HFSID 342798
    ALICE TV CAST
: LINDA LAVIN and VIC TAYBACK
    The
    Alice
cast mates sign still from the long-running sitcom in black ink
    Photograph signed:
    "Vic Tayback"
    and
    "Linda/ Lavin"
in black ink. B/w, 10x8. Actress, singer, producer and director
    LINDA LAVIN (b. 1937)
    is
best known for her role as waitress Alice Hyatt on the TV sitcom,
    Alice
(1976-1985), for which she won two Golden Globes (1978, 1979) and was nominated for another Golden Globe (1980) and an Emmy Award.
Lavin also sang the sitcom's theme song, "There's a New Girl in Town". Originally best known for her television work, which also included a stint on
    Barney Miller
(1975-1976), guest appearances on a number of series and a long list of TV movies, the actress has had a
    successful Broadway career
as well. Lavin, who made her off-Broadway debut in 1960, made her Broadway bow two years later in
    A Family Affair
    . She won a
    Tony Award
    for
    Broadway Bound
    (1987) and was
    nominated for a Tony
    in 1970, 1998, 2001 and 2010 (the latter for
    Collected Stories
    ).
Lavin also appeared on the big screen, beginning with 1984's
    The Muppets Take Manhattan
. She was inducted into the
    American Theatre Hall of Fame
in January 2011. From 1976 to 1985, the bulging, bald-domed
    VIC TAYBACK (1929-1990)
made a comfortable living in TV commercials and TV guest-star assignments, and as a regular on the detective series
    Griff
    (1973) and
    Khan
    (1975
). In 1975, he was cast in the secondary role of Mel Sharples
, the potty-mouthed short-fused owner of a greasy spoon diner,
    in the theatrical feature
    Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore
    .
When the film evolved into the weekly TV sitcom
    Alice
in 1976, Tayback was engaged to recreate his "Mel" characterization, the only character from the movie retained for the series.
He remained with the program for the next nine years.
He earned three Golden Globe nominations, winning two, for his work on
    Alice
. Ink notes on verso in unknown hand. Paper affixed on verso. Fine condition.
