    ANTIQUE 18th - 19th c. PAPIER MACHE Black Lacquer
    Hand Painted REGENCY SNUFF BOX
    Antique, circa 1800 (late 1700's to early 1800's), Regency Snuff Box that was made out of heavily lacquered papier mâché and then hand painted. (the photos have been lightened to show detail) The painting is of a lovely woman wearing a very large, plumed hat.  It measures approximately 3" in diameter x about 5/8" high.  It is in fair condition with over half of the original paint still intact.  It has cracks to the paint, loss to the paint, chips to the edges, and the usual wear. There is an old sticker on the bottom that I will leave on (I'm afraid it will take of the lacquer off (see photo). This is a lovely 200-year-old hand painted snuff box that will certainly compliment any collection!
