    Description

    An early 19th century German rectangular lacquered papier mache Stobwasser-type snuff box. It is unsigned.
    The lid is painted with a rural scene depicting a walking gentleman approaching a shy peasant girl. The motif has darkened with age. There are fine cracks in the paint surface, but very minor paint loss.
    The interior is in excellent condition with just one small corner chip to the glossy lid. The brass hinge is good and tight.
