BAG OF 500 BUFFALO NICKELS - FULL DATE CIRCULATED
As designed by James Earle Fraser, the obverse of the coin shows the profile of a Native American with the word  ”Liberty” on above right.  The reverse is  "Black Diamond," an American bison (buffalo).  "Buffalo nickel"  reflectis the common misnomer for the bison. The nickel is also called an Indian head nickel.
