    Description

This is a used sample of antique barbed wire fencing. This sample features John C. Merrill dated December 26, 1876. This wire is called "Merrill's Four Point Twirl on Medium Size "D" Shape Line Wires" by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 156-B VARIATION)(Hagemeier shows a line wire that is flat on two sides, and states a 1/4" diameter line). This wire features a single line wire. Line wire is medium gauge about 5/16" in diameter. Line wire is round, with one flat side making it resemble a capital "D" in cross section. Barbs are four pointed made from two staple shaped barbing wires. Barbing wires nested together and wrapped horizontally around the line wire. This sample is 18" in length and has three barbs,. Barbs are well spaced, and cut is well centered. Wire shows age wear, with light pitting. There are no bent, broken or repaired barbs. Wire is in very good used condition. There are no off odors. I have listed other wires, both as auction and fixed price listings. We will gladly combine multiple purchases for shipping, when paid on the same invoice ... using the buy it now option. First wire ships for .50; additional wires are fifty cents each extra. Twelve or more wire ship for free.
