RARE Duke of Windsor Portrait Doll, circa late 1930’s. Commissioned by Elsie Clark Krug to sell at her Krug’s International Doll House in Baltimore, MD. The head was likely sculpted by Marion Branning, an instructor at the Maryland Institute, to whom other Krug dolls have been attributed. The Duke measures 11 inches tall and has a ceramic head and cloth body. He is wearing a black wool topcoat, striped wool pants, a ribbed cotton waistcoat, and leather shoes, with spats which are a bit deteriorated. One Seam on the back of his jacket has opened- easily stitched back. Overall condition is very good- no chips or cracks to ceramic head. Apparently there was also a Duchess of Windsor Doll made to go along with him, but these dolls are very rare.
