once. In 1965, Snead became the oldest player (52 years and 10 months) to win a PGA tournament (the Greater Greensboro Open).

won seven major titles
, including the
U.S. Open
in 1932. He was a member of the
American Ryder Cup team
on six occasions.
BYRON NELSON
(1912-2006),
two-time winner of both the Masters
(1937, 1942) and the
PGA Championship
(1940, 1945), also won the
U.S. Open
in 1939. He won 19 tournaments in 1945, including
a record 11 in a row.
