    Description

Two great pieces from the multi-talented Sascha Brastoff (1918-1993), perhaps the most prolific and widely recognized of mid-century Los Angeles designers. Sascha Brastoff was a dancer, a costume designer for Fox Studios, a highly successful ceramicist, and a metal sculptor. Most notably, he created a wide range of ceramics in a variety of patterns that have become emblematic of mid-century Los Angeles style.
Here we have two pieces in the rooftops pattern, probably 1947-1953. During this period, pieces signed “Sascha B” such as these were hand-painted by in-house artists in the sprawling Los Angeles studio. These two are in great condition with no cracks or chips. The paint and gold highlights are intact, with only the most minor scuffs here and there. See photos for details. The cylindrical vase measures 8 ½ inches tall by 3 ¾ inches in diameter. The dish is about 9 inches maximum length.
