These vintage Sascha Brastoff Surf Ballet metallic glaze pieces are amazing examples of this extraordinary artist's work. Sascha Brastoff (Samuel Brastofsky) was born October 23, 1918. He was an iconic mid century designer who had a ceramics studio in Los Angeles, California. His art and work took him from a prize winning show in New York City, to displays in the Syracuse Museum of art, to displays in the the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and to costume design for 20th Century Fox studios in California in 1946. Living near the ocean was Sascha's inspiration for his "Surf Ballet" pottery series. You can see the lazy ebb and flow of the ocean in these beautifully designed pieces. The brilliant metallic sheen against the creamy white background make these pieces irresistible. The elegant lines are signature Sascha Brastoff. The bottom is signed by the designer and the words: California, U.S.A.
