Description

This is a used sample of antique barbed wire fencing. This sample features a Datus C. Smith patent, dated May 14, 1907. This wire is called "Smith's Two Point Barb on Flattened Oval Lines", by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 100-B ). This wire features a single heavy gauge line wire which is a flat oval, and is serpentine. Barbs are two pointed, made by wrapping a round barbing wire in an open spiral around a flat spot in thel line. This sample is 18" in length and has eleven barbs,. Barbs are well spaced, and cut is well centered. Wire shows age wear, with light to moderate pitting, and some bending of barbs. There are no broken or repaired barbs. Wire is in good used condition. There are no off odors. I have listed other wires, both as auction and fixed price listings.
