Top Drawer Madagascar Ocean Jasper Agate Slabs
Up for auction are super nice Ocean Jasper Slabs from Madagascar.  These are from some of the early material that I obtained from an estate auction about 15 years ago.  They are from the same rock with the pink background I have been selling.  That rock was green on one side and pink on the other. These are from near the middle of the rock where the pink is
transitioning
to the green. The green does tend to have more fracturing, and there are a few tiny crystal lined vugs,  but there is still lots of solid material.
They are 1/4 inches thick, and
will make some fantastic cabs.
Slabs are photographed wet to give some idea what they look like polished.  Last two photos are dry to better show presence of any fractures or vugs.  Photos are a part of the description for this item.
Note:
Madagascar Ocean Jasper contains realgar and orpiment. Both minerals contain arsenic in their chemical structure, Arsenic is a highly toxic element if ingested or absorbed through the skin. It is important to use personal protective gear when cabbing or cutting".
Ocean Jasper is a gem material, mined in only one place in the world - The Mine of Marovato on the Ambolobozo Peninsula of Madagascar.  It is called Ocean Jasper because the deposits were a part of the coastline, reached only by boat and collected at low tide.  The mine operated from 2000 - 2006 when the last of the quality material was removed.  The mine is now depleted and quality rough is getting harder and harder to come by.
Please see my other listings for lots of other types of lapidary material.  These are a part of what I have accumulated over the years for my own use.  I find now I have way more than I can use and I need more shelf space in my shop.  Time for it to find it a new home.
